The Corner of Christchurch Road & Streatham Hill (Junction of A23 & A205)
This a large open empty space of grass and trees on the corner of two very busy roads, the A23 (Streatham Hill) and the A205 South Circular. Until recently it has been completely fenced off and disused, although recently the fence has thankfully disappeared. This is an important piece of green space which should be improved to add even more greenery and leisure space to this (very residential) area, while performing the important job of cleaning the very polluted air caused by the junction.
More could be done to create a safe place for people to spend time. Perhaps a cycle path could be created through the middle, enabling cyclists to cut the corner and avoid the very dangerous traffic, which has taken the lives of cyclists at this junction in the past. There is currently a white "ghost bike" chained to the railings in front to mark the death of a cyclist. A cycle path through this space would be a fitting tribute.
