Mapping Forgotten Spaces

Streatham Place

There is a disused petrol station & car wash site on Streatham Place, next to the McDonalds drive through and near the junction with Brixton Hill/Streatham Hill. It has been empty for years and although there is a sold sign on it it has been there for a long time and no plans to develop it have been submitted, nor have residents been consulted about any such plans. The site is ugly, littered, covered in weeds and graffiti. It is a large space which could be used to create a community garden. As much green space as possible is needed in this area of the South Circular, to counteract the effects of traffic fumes. This is a highly residential area. Another possible use for this space would be to turn it over for sports and leisure use. A skatepark could be a welcome addition.
